March 21st and 22nd 2026
10 am until 1 pm each day although we may go a little longer on the 22nd if folks are not finished in time.
In this two day workshop we will design and carve an image on a linoleum block and then use that carving the next day to imprint in clay and make a mug using the slab building method. I will provide all the tools needed and students will take their carving home with them to use again if desired.
Students can also take their carving home on the first day if they would like to work on their carving further before we make the mugs!
Students will be asked to bring a few images as reference material for their design. I will have tracing paper to help with transferring images to the linoleum. Designs that work best contain bold and simple line work. I will show lots of examples and have books to use as inspiration as well.
We will be working on an image that fits within an 11.5 inch by 4.5 inch space.
I will provide glazing and firing services for the mugs and they will be ready for pick-up within six weeks.
Mug Shipping can also be provided at additional cost, usually about $15.
My space requires going down three steps and up one to enter. There are dogs in our house but they will not be in the studio unless folks request it. There is a restroom and I will provide some light snacks and beverages. Feel free to bring lunch if you like, there is a fridge available.
Please let me know if you have any questions~
